Science Expo Blog

🔬Science expo blog🔬

The grade 6's had to do a Science Expo about food or environmental science. Most of the experiments weren't that amazing because it was more about the information and the data. My partner, Ntsika, and I chose the experiment "Racing for Rotten" it is about how apples rot and brown in water, oil, vinegar and air. We chose this experiment because it was simple but had a lot of information about it. The experiment was very interesting and had lots of surprising results. The day went very well and everything went perfectly. Ntsika and I arnt the neatest pair so I poster wasn't the most amazing thing ever but it was quite good. Ntsika's and I experimentwas more about our presentation it was really good and we understood our experiment. There wasn't really any struggles for Ntsika and I it was really easy and nothing failed. I was happy with our poster but I think we could of made it better. It was a nice poster but it could of been stuck neater and we could maybe of written the information neater. The expo day went really really well I think everything went perfectly. I was not nervous at all and I felt confident about doing the science expo because I was well prepared. The science expo isn't meant to be scary it's meant to be a fun day. I think we did really well and I'm hoping we can get a certificate. A little tip if your in grade 4 I advice that you could go by yourself or go with a partner you are very comfortable with. Ntsika and I are very close friends and didnt have to practice that much together because we sort of know what's gonna happen next. If you do get nervous just remember to have fun and not worry about it even if you go blank or the experiment doesn't work just take a deep breath and continue.

Dr. Freaky

The Stop Motion Project is a very fun project because you get to work in pairs, create your own super hero, create your own set and you can make your own movie using I Can Animate. I liked the Stop Motion Project because I was with a very nice partner and we worked very well together.I found making the video was quit hard because because it was hard to move the person you made and get the right angle all the time. When we created the character it was hard because the Plasticine is a bit hard so it was hard to mold our character. We made are character unique and different to the others because hes a villain but a weird one. I found that our charter is interesting and is very unique. I wouldn't change anything about this project but I would use different molding material to make the character because of how hard the Plasticine. The highlight for this project would be working together with Ntsika and making the set,.

Camp!!!!

On the 9 of March to the 11 of March all the Grade 6s went to Rocklands camp site. On the bus ride somone was hitting me almost the whole time, won't mention names, so my leg was sore. The camp was really fun and I got to be in the cabin with Hein, Ntsika, Deniel, Luca I,Michael, Jason and Ryan. I really wanted to be with them. It was quit hard trying to sleep with them because one of the people in our cabin wouldn't sleep without a light on, so I got some sleep but not a lot.

When we got there we met all the instructors they are all really exiting and they don't like boring people. They made us to this activity were we had to get in to groups with people the number that they said. The last number was 16 and that was our group but they change our whole group because there were to much boys so they moved almost all of us. My groups name was The Panzees. We did walkry. When we went to the beach we had to make a sea creature the girls in our group wouldn't let us work with them so they one instructore separated us so the boys made this creature called the holy chicken wig it was like a chicken wig with wigs a eye and a beak. We did lots of activity but my favorite was the archly because I almost hit the middle and I was doing really well. All the activities  that we did we all had to work together if we didn't have teamwork we wouldn't of got no were.

Camp was really great and I recommend that you go there.

GOALS ARE VITALLY IMPORTANT

WHY ARE GOALS IMPORTANT??

GOALS ARE VERY, VERY IMPORTANT IF YOU DIDN'T HAVE ANY GOALS HOW WILL YOU GET BETTER IN WHAT YOU WANT TO SUCCEED IN?

IF YOU SET SMARRT GOALS YOU WILL SUCCEED AND IT WILL HELP YOU A LOT IN MAKING GOOD GOALS.

IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT A SMARRT GOAL IS, I WILL TELL YOU. A SMART GOAL HAS TO BE SPECIFIC. IF YOUR GOAL ISN'T SPECIFIC  HOW WILL YOU KNOW IF YOU'RE DOING BETTER OR NOT EG. I WANT TO DO BETTER IN AFRIKAANS (THAT IS NOT SPECIFIC) VS I WANT TO ACHIEVE OVER 80 % IN AFRIKAANS. (SPECIFIC) YOUR GOALS HAVE TO BE REALISTIC IF YOU'VE BEEN GETTING 50% AND YOU SET A GOAL THAT IS YOU WANT TO GET 90% THEN I DON'T THINK THAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN. SET A GOAL TO ACHIEVE 60% THEN 70% THEN 80% THEN 85% THEN 90% BECAUSE BY DOING THAT YOU WILL GET BETTER EVERY TIME AND YOU ARE MORE LIKELY TO SUCCEED YOUR GOALS.

SO WHEN YOUR PARENT SAYS "'GOOD JOB MY BOY, YOU'RE SETTING YOUR GOALS VERY HIGH'' THEY ARE PROBABLY GOING TO END UP DISAPPOINTED JUST LIKE YOU.

ONE OF MY GOALS IS TO GET MY CENTURY IN CRICKET BUT FIRST I WILL HAVE TO GET A HALF CENTURY AND THEN A CENTURY AND I'VE BEEN IMPROVING EVERY WEEK AND ILL GET MY CENTURY.
